WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MASSAGE THESE POINTS ON YOUR FEET

Reflexology is an alternative medicine technique based on the belief that foot has multiple reflex points that correspond to different organs and glands in the body. Massaging these points on your foot will stimulate the function of the organs and promote good health. Here are few common ailments and their reflexology points.

1. REFLEXOLOGY POINT FOR THE SINUS

The Sinus point is located on the tip of your big toe on the pad of the toe. To massage this point, hold your toe with your forefinger and rub with your thumb. Massage the sinus point for 30-60 seconds to improve circulation in the sinus regions, clear congestion in the nose and promote nasal breathing.

2. REFLEXOLOGY POINT FOR EYES

The Eyes points are located at base of your second and third toes. It’s like a U-shaped area below your toe pads. To massage these points, apply pressure using your thumbs and rub the U-shaped area in an up and down motion. Applying pressure there will relax the muscles in your eyes and improve the circulation.

3. REFLEXOLOGY POINT FOR THE LUNGS AND BRONCHIAL TUBES

This point is on the ball of your foot, under the three middle toes. To massage this area, press hard with your fingers or your knuckles. Massage this area for about 60 seconds per foot. Stimulating this point on both feet helps to promote the circulation in your lungs, improving energy flow and enhances functions of the nervous system.

4. REFLEXOLOGY POINT FOR SMALL INTESTINE

Reflexology area for small intestine is located between heel and ball of feet. Massaging this point will improve the digestion, enhances colon health and will make the intestinal tract a lot cleaner.

5. LYMPH DRAINAGE REFLEXOLOGY POINT

The lymphatic system plays an important role in the proper functioning of your immune system. It defends against disease, generates disease-fighting antibodies and also produces white blood cells. This point is located in the webbing between the bones of your big toe and second toe. To massage this point, use the knuckle of your index finger to press and stroke downwards from the base of your toes towards the bottom of the V that’s formed where the bones meet. Repeat for 30 strokes.

6. REFLEXOLOGY POINT BACK PAIN

Heels have a relation with sciatic nerve and lower back. You can treat lower back pain by applying pressure to the reflexes on the soles of your feet, the entire area around your heel and around your ankle, as well as the inner edge of each foot. Apply pressure using your finger for periods of 15 to 30 seconds.
