This list contains some of the most common dreams and their symbolic meaning.
#1. Water
This is one of the most common dreams. Whether you swim in a river, lake or an ocean, whether you drink or are drowning, the water dream is often dreamed by many. Most dream interpreters would first ask whether the water was clean or cloudy, cold or hot, drinkable or not. The most popular interpretation of water dreams is how effectively we are managing our emotions.
#2. Being chased
Often these kinds of dreams can be easily turned into night mares. Sometimes we dream that an animal or a stranger is chasing us, but sometimes we run from something which we don’t know exactly what it is. The anxiety we feel in the dream is so vivid, so it makes it easier for us to remember them. Often, the reason for these dreams comes not from the fear of actually being chased, but rather what we’re running from. Chase dreams often project a daily problem or anxiety or maybe even a person that makes us feel poor and we would rather run away from than to face it or them.
#3. Vehicles
Another common dream. They can also be full with anxiety and irritation because when we dream our body is relaxed, and the dream is so vivid but we can hardly move. People often drive cars, are piloting plains or are sailing with large boats in their dreams. Vehicles in our dreams represent what direction we feel our life is taking, and how much control we think we have over the path ahead of us. Vehicles can give us the power to make a transition and envision ourselves getting to our destination or they mean that (if we are unable to drive them) that we are having little control over our lives.
#4. School or classroom
Both students or grownups tend to have these dreams. The first ones because it’s their daily preoccupation and the second ones because they have to learn some lesson. Sometimes these dreams are torturing, like a manifestation that you went to school but forgot to do your homework or didn’t study for the test. The common meaning says that we need to learn from our past which is one reason these dreams are often reported by people who have long since finished school.
#5. Paralysis
You dream that you run but your feet are heavy, or you dream that you want to say something but you can’t say the words, or that you have to run away but can’t move your body. Paralysis dreams are very often. Our body “shuts down” when we go to sleep. This is the way that our brain protects us from taking actual action in order to respond to the things we are dreaming. If we were actually capable to move we would definitely hurt our body. Dreaming about paralysis can also indicate that the dreamer feels he or she lacks control in their waking life.
#6. Flying
These are often people’s favorite dreams. They feel so light when they fly it is a real disappointment for them when they wake up to realize it was only a dream. Flying and floating dreams are very common and their meaning again goes to the control one has in his waking life. If you dream that you can fly but not so well it means that you need to gain more control in your waking life actions. If you dream that you fly without any problem it means that you are really independent and you have good control over your life.
